David Boyd, Auburn’s 5th President, is Born

David Boyd is born.

Boyd would serve as the fifth president of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) from 1883 until 1884.

Previous president William Broun resigned due to the board’s refusal to implement his recommendations.
